Why We’re Going

Forested calm in the middle of the city. 70-hectare park surrounding a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji. Ideal reset morning — especially after shrine-heavy Kyoto.

📷 Photography Prep

Best Lens: 23mm f/1.4 Backup Lens: 16mm f/2.8 Best Time: Early morning — forest light is softest and people are fewest Light: Dappled forest light on the main approach path (Omotesando); filtered and beautiful Focus On: Forest approach path, torii gate, sake barrel displays, quiet worshippers Restrictions: Respectful photography throughout

Tips & Notes

  • Main approach (Omotesando) through the forest is the experience — not the shrine building itself
  • Skip if already shrine-saturated from Kyoto
  • Pairs naturally with Shibuya (walking distance) for an afternoon
  • Inner Garden is worth ¥500 if irises are blooming (peak: late May–June)
