Three steps, then execute.
Step 1 — Get the recommended plan: Open Daily Rhythm - April 7-20 → find today’s date → read the Agenda. That page already has weather, crowds, light, and energy baked in. It’s the plan. Follow it.
Step 2 — Check real energy vs. the forecast: How does everyone actually feel?
| If real energy is… | Then… |
|---|---|
| Matches Daily Rhythm | Follow the plan |
| Lower than forecast | Drop one level using the tables below |
| Someone wants to split | See Group Splits section |
Step 3 — Check weather: If conditions shifted from what Daily Rhythm shows, use the ☔ swaps noted inline for each option below.
Default bias: go lighter than you think. A comfortable 🟡 day with energy to spare beats a 🔴 day that wipes everyone out tomorrow.
Day-to-Day Balance
Energy carries forward. What you do today shapes what’s possible tomorrow.
| Yesterday was… | Today should be… | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 🔴 High (USJ, full Kyoto, day trip) | 🟢 Light — mandatory | No early alarms. Nothing before 10:00 AM. |
| 🟡 Moderate + late evening | 🟢 or 🟡 | Protect the next morning. Don’t stack two big days. |
| 🟢 Light (rest/neighborhood) | 🔴 OK if rested | High-energy days in Daily Rhythm are already positioned after light days. |
| Any travel day | 🟢 Light | New environment = hidden fatigue. Give it a full day. |
If there’s disagreement about energy level → default to the lower reading. Always.
Group Splits
Not every day needs to be together. Osaka and Tokyo both support clean splits.
Split logistics:
- Confirm the meetup point before leaving the house — station, neighborhood, or dinner spot
- Everyone charges phones and has the transit app open
- Default rendezvous: dinner spot, by 6:30–7:00 PM
Osaka Split Options (Apr 8–14)

| Ana | Den-Den Town / Nipponbashi | Retro games + anime; 6 min from house |
| Jeannette | Shinsaibashi-suji covered arcade | Shopping; any weather |
| Kyoto sub-group (2–3) | Fushimi Inari dawn → back by noon | Others stay Osaka; all back for afternoon |

OSAKA — Deviation Options (Apr 8–14)
Use when Daily Rhythm’s recommendation doesn’t match today’s real energy or weather.
🟢 Drop to Light
Shinsekai + Tennoji — 4 min from the house, no commitment
- Leave whenever, no alarm needed
- Tennoji Zoo or Shitennoji Temple → kushikatsu lunch in Shinsekai
- Home by 3–4 PM; extend if energy holds
- ☔ Rain swap: Nipponbashi / Den-Den Town (6 min from house, all indoor, retro games — Ana’s territory)
Nakazakicho — vintage shops + indie cafés, slow pace
- Leave 11:00 AM, 20 min by subway
- 2–3 hrs covers it; lunch in the neighborhood
- ☔ Rain swap: Shinsaibashi-suji covered arcade (600m fully covered, 8 min from house)
🟡 Moderate Deviation
Kuromon Market → Namba / Dotonbori — food-first day
- Leave house 9:30–10:00 AM
- Kuromon Market: eat walking — tamagoyaki, grilled scallop, seafood skewers (~1.5 hrs)
- Drift west to Dotonbori: canal, neon, people-watching
- Dinner: takoyaki or okonomiyaki in Namba
- ☔ Rain swap: Shinsaibashi-suji arcade → Namba Walk underground → stays dry; same food options
Osaka Castle + Nakazakicho — landmark + afternoon drift
- Leave house 9:00 AM
- Castle park + optional museum interior (cherry blossoms early April on the grounds)
- Subway north to Nakazakicho: cafés, vintage, slow lunch
- Home by 7:00 PM
- ☔ Rain swap: castle interior museum only; skip Nakazakicho
Kyoto Day Trip (Moderate–High days, when Daily Rhythm supports it)
Leave Osaka by 6:45–8:00 AM depending on the option. Return by 3:00–5:00 PM. Evening after any Kyoto day: home base, local dinner, nothing planned.
JR train from Shin-Imamiya — the right way to reach Kyoto: Walk ~10 min to Shin-Imamiya → JR Osaka Loop Line → Osaka Station (~13 min, ¥180) → JR Special Rapid (新快速) → Kyoto Station (~28 min, ¥580). Total ~55 min, ~¥760/person. IC card, no reservation. Far cheaper than the Shinkansen (¥3,070). Runs from ~5:30 AM — use for all Kyoto day trips.
Arashiyama — Upper Sagano Walk — the best version of Arashiyama; start at the top
- JR Special Rapid → Kyoto Station → taxi to Otagi Nenbutsuji (top of hill) → walk down through temples, tea house, vendors → arrive at main bamboo grove mid-morning; see Arashiyama Bamboo Grove for full route
- Depart 8:00 AM → arrive house by 5:00 PM
- ☔ Rain: bamboo in rain is atmospheric — continue; skip Tenryu-ji garden grounds (get muddy); taxi remains fine in rain
Fushimi Inari + Nishiki Market — most iconic; must arrive early
- JR Special Rapid → Kyoto Station → JR Nara Line → Inari Station → walk the gates (arrive by 8:00 AM) → train to central Kyoto → Nishiki Market lunch → Osaka by 2:30 PM
- ☔ Rain swap: replace Inari with Sanjusangendo (indoor hall of 1,001 life-size statues — 30 min from Kyoto Station)
Gion + Higashiyama + Pontocho — classic Kyoto feel
- JR Special Rapid → Kyoto by 9:00 AM → Higashiyama cobblestone lanes → Pontocho lunch sets (¥1,500–3,000 vs ¥10,000+ at dinner)
- ☔ Rain swap: Kenninji Temple interior halls + Nishiki Market (both covered or indoor)
Kyoto rules: max 2–3 days total. Evening after Kyoto: low-key only.
TOKYO — Deviation Options (Apr 15–19)
🟢 Drop to Light
Ikebukuro home base — zero transit, everything walkable
- Leave house whenever
- Sunshine City (Pokémon Center DX, Namja Town, Sunshine 60), Zoshigaya, Sugamo (1 stop Yamanote)
- ☔ Rain: ideal — Sunshine City alone fills a full day under one roof
Ginza half-day — stationery + calm streets
- Leave house 10:30 AM (30 min on Yurakucho line)
- Itoya stationery (Jeannette — 9 floors), watch browsing (Jeff/Matt), architecture walking
- Lunch: Tsukiji Outer Market (15 min from Ginza) — scallops, tuna on rice, tamagoyaki
- Home by 4–5 PM
- ☔ Rain: all indoor; Tsukiji stalls partially covered
🟡 Moderate Deviation
Asakusa + Senso-ji — old Tokyo, easy morning
- Leave 9:00 AM (35 min, Hibiya line); arrive before crowds
- Senso-ji → Nakamise market → Sumida Park walk → optional Akihabara on the return (15 min)
- ☔ Rain: temple and market street are covered — still works well
Shibuya + Omotesando — modern Tokyo energy
- Leave 10:30 AM (20 min, Fukutoshin line)
- Shibuya Crossing → Takeshita Street → Maisen tonkatsu lunch (Omotesando, ¥1,500–2,500) → Loft Shibuya (Jeannette)
- ☔ Rain: Shibuya Hikarie depachika (B1–B2) + shopping floors
Akihabara + Nakano Broadway — all-weather; indoor browsing day
- Akihabara: electronics, retro games, anime (Ana’s territory)
- Nakano Broadway: vintage figures, Firekids watches (Jeff/Matt), Animate
- Completely weather-independent
Odaiba afternoon — Gundam + waterfront
- Leave 2:00–3:00 PM (Yurikamome monorail from Shimbashi)
- Unicorn Gundam statue (Ana + group), bay walk, blue hour (6:30–7:00 PM April)
- Eat before going — Odaiba dining is expensive and mediocre
- ☔ Rain: skip or quick Gundam-only stop (outdoor statue)
🔴 High-Energy Day
Fuji or Nikko day trip — weather-dependent
- Early departure 6:30 AM; full day
- ☀️ Clear forecast → Fuji area (Hakone / Kawaguchiko views)
- 🌥️ Mixed / low visibility → Nikko (forested temples, less weather-sensitive)
- See Fuji vs Nikko for the final call
- Home 7–8 PM; next morning: nothing before 10:00 AM
Evening Options (Any City)
| You want… | Go to | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Low-key drinks near the house | Neighborhood izakaya | Walk-in, any city |
| Live jazz, no reservation | HUB Asakusa (nightly) | Walk-in, Tokyo |
| Hi-fi vinyl listening bar | Spincoaster Shinjuku | Walk-in; 2 stops from Ikebukuro |
| Planned jazz night | Blue Note Tokyo (Minami-Aoyama) | Reserve in advance |

| French wine + cheese, Kyoto | Rokka | Near Yoramu; small, intimate |
| Hidden temple bar, Kyoto | Kanga-an Temple | Reserve in advance |
Mid-Day Pivots
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Feet hurt before noon | Return to base — this is a full success |
| Nobody agrees on a plan | Nearest konbini, bench, snack, regroup |
| Someone’s hungry and cranky | Food before any decision. Always. |
| Energy crashed in transit | GO app taxi home — never subway when depleted |
| Rain appeared unexpectedly | Use the ☔ swaps above, or find covered shopping and eat |
| It’s all too much | Konbini snack + sit in a park + do nothing for an hour |
